Back to Basics: Video Management Software
So what exactly is video management software? Well first off some may call it a VIdeo Management System. For the purposes of simplicity I will use the terms interchangeably.
Simply put the VIdeo Management Software (VMS) is software that does just that. It manages your video footage. Typically it will be a layer over your recording hardware. It allows you to recall video, live view video and a bunch of other cool things based on the software you are using.
The VMS that Affintech prefers is from Milestone Systems. Milestone is one of the most deployed VMS packages in the world. We like to think of it as the Windows of video management. Milestone brings a suite of features above and beyond what many modern cameras have baked in. Most modern cameras have excellent features and functionality.
